MEET OUR COACHES
Joan Mary
Coach 51
43 seater coach
Joan Mary, named after the late mother of Hannah Beacom and Toby Boucher who are the directors here at Island Coachways. The coach arrived on 23rd May, which is Joan Mary's birthday so it seemed perfect tribute to a wonderful woman.

Dora The Explorer
Coach 52E
35 seater coach
Dora joined Island Coachways last year in 2018 to run our new tour service 'The Guernsey Explorer'. The Guernsey Explorer service is a 90 minute Island drive designed for cruise liner passegers and day trippers who wish to see the highlights of Guernsey. When it came to naming the coach itself we remembered the fun childrens tv programme 'Dora the Explorer', a show where Dora and her monkey Boots, explore, travel and make discoveries, much like our passengers exploring Guernsey.

Lily
Coach 53
39 seater coach
2018 was an exciting year for Guernsey after being in the spotlight following the release of 'Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society'. Originally a best selling novel, writer Mary-Ann Shaffer was inspired after a visit to our beautiful island in 1980. We named coach 53, who joined our fleet that year in honour of Lily James whol played the lead role, Juilet Ashton. Set in 1946, the film/novel tells the story of London writer Juliet Ashton, who exchanges letters with Guernsey residents during WWII.

Kit
Coach 54
39 seater coach
Named after Kit, the daughter of Elizabeth Mckenna in the book The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

Cosette
Coach 55
39 seater coach
The name Cosette was Inspired by Les Miserables, created by French writer Victor Hugo who wrote the famous novel along with Toilers of the Sea, whilst staying in Guernsey. Victor Hugo lived in Guernsey during his exile from France, his home Hauteville House remains a popular tourist destination due his work and unique artistic decor. Character Cosette was adopted by Jean Valjean, and was one of the few characters to survive the entire course of the novel and musical.

Wendy
Coach 56
39 seater coach
Our newest coach to join the fleet has been named after the wife of one of our longest serving coach drivers, Ken Jones.
To celebrate Ken’s 80th Birthday this year, we asked Ken if he would like the opportunity to name the coach after his lovely wife Wendy, and of course he said yes. We held a beautiful naming ceremony for a coach named after a beautiful Lady.
